OGDEN, Utah—Westminster's men's basketball played Weber State in an exhibition game at the Dee Events Center Wednesday Night. The Griffins outscored the Wildcats in the second half, 42-34, to make up some ground in the 73-85 loss.
Weber State finished the first half with a 20-point lead, 51-31. They scored outscored the Griffins 17-4 off turnovers and 20-8 in the paint. The Griffins flipped that in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 11-5 off turnovers and 18-10 in the paint, gaining eight points back.
Westminster shot 46.2% from the field (24-52), 39.1% from three (9-23) and 72.7% (16-22) from the free throw line. Weber State was 49.1% (28-57) from the field, 44.0% 10-26) from three and 79.2% from the line (19-24).
Reme Torbert led the Griffins in both scoring and rebounding. Torbert grabbed seven rebounds, tied with Weber's Michal Kozak to lead in rebounding, and was the game's second leading scorer with 23 points. Weber's Isiah Brown led the game with 29 points.
Isaiah Banks finished the game with 13 points and
Joey Andrews and
Matt Kitzman were just one point shy of double-digits with nine. Andrews was second on the team with six rebounds and Kitzman was third with four.
