PUEBLO, Colo.—Westminster's women's basketball team ended 2020 with a 13-point win over CSU-Pueblo.
The Griffins out shot the Thunderwolves to a 64-51 win. The Griffins were 47.9% from the field and 81.3% from the free throw line. The Thunderwolves were 34.4% from the field and 43.9% from the stripe.
Lyndzi Rich and Mariah Martin combined for 18 of Westminster's 32 first-half points. Rich was perfect in the half going 4-4 from the field and 2-2 from the stripe for 10 points. Martin was 3-5 from the field, 1-2 from three and 1-1 from the stripe for eight points.
Abby Mangum and Kaylee Carlsen took the lead offensively in the second half. Mangum was 6-6 from the free throw line on her way to 10 points in the half. Carlsen scored seven shooting 3-5 from the field.
Mangum went 7-8 from the stripe and 4-9 from the field to finish as the Griffins' leading scorer. She was second on the team with six rebounds.
Martin led the team with seven rebounds. She was second on the team with 12 points.
The Griffins return to action in the new year with two home games against UCCS on Tuesday, Jan. 5, and Chadron State on Saturday, Jan. 9.
