SALT LAKE CITY –
Brandon Warr and
Joonas Tahvanainen scored 15 points apiece to lead Westminster men's basketball to a 78-62 win over Western Colorado on Friday night at Behnken Field House.
The Griffins scored the first nine points of the game and later used a 14-0 run to take a 27-6. Westminster's lead grew as large as 22 and finished the half up 15 at 43-28. The Griffins shot 59.3 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from behind the 3-point line in their dominant first half.
Westminster's lead grew as large as 26 in the second half and the game was never in doubt.
Tahvanainen scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half and grabbed seven rebounds. Warr finished with a game-high 11 rebounds, and
Jake Connor added 12 points, hitting four 3-pointers in five attempts.
Westminster hosts Colorado Mesa tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. MT. The game will be streamed live on the
