Brandon Warr's 20 points led five Griffins in double figures as Westminster men's basketball beat Colorado Christian 94-73 Saturday night at Behnken Field House.
Joonas Tahvanainen scored 17 points,
James Walljasper had 14 points,
Alec Monson added 13 points and
Jai Jai Ely had 10 points in the Griffins' highest scoring game of the season. Westminster shot 61.4 percent from the field, and 57.1 percent from behind the arc, making 13 3-pointers in the game.
Colorado Christian jumped out to a hot start, outscoring Westminster 17-7 in the first five minutes of the game, but the Griffins would go on a 32-7 run over the next 12 minutes and to take a 10-point lead into halftime at 45-35.
The Cougars came out strong again in the second half, cutting the lead to four just three minutes in. The Griffins' lead hovered between four and seven for the next few minutes until a 3-pointer from Monson stretched the lead to 10.
Colorado Christian continued to hang around, but an 11-2 run gave Westminster a 15-point lead with six minutes to go and the Griffins wouldn't allow the Cougars closer than 12 the rest of the way.
Westminster hosts two more conference games next weekend, facing Western Colorado on Friday, Jan. 24 and Colorado Mesa on Saturday, Jan. 25. Both games will be streamed live on the
