TWIN FALLS, Idaho—The Westminster College men's and women's cross country teams ran in the College of Idaho Cross Country Classic. The Griffins ran against Utah, Weber State, Southern Idaho and Northwest Nazarene.

The women's team finished fifth with a total time of 1:45:54 and an average time of 21:10 over the 5k course. Weber State finished first averaging 18:34 for a total time of 1:32:52.

The men's team finished in 2:04:16 and averaged 24:51 to finish fourth.  Weber State won with an average time of 22:18 and total time of 1:51:33.

"It was a good season opener," head coach Dan Quinn said.  It was good to most of the returning runners ahead of where they were at the end of last year. The freshmen showed well impressed in their debut."

Freshman Courtney McAlindon posted Westminster's fastest time and finished 25th in 20:12.0.  Sophomores Hannah Rohrer-Fitzhugh and Maddy Vilhauer finished 30^th and 35^th in 20:28.4 and 21:13.1 to round out the top three times.

Junior trio of Tony Nickerson, DJ Matthews and Aidan Urban finished 24^th, 27^th and 28^th respectively. Nickerson finished in 23:59.1, Matthews finished in 25:42.3 and Urban finished in 24:35.2.

Next weekend the Griffins head south to Brigham Young University for another race in the Autumn Classic at the East Bay Golf Course in Provo.
