Westminster Volleyball Drops First Two Matches at Javalina Invitational

KINGSVILLE, TX – Westminster volleyball opened the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational with a pair of hard-fought losses on Thursday at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center.

"We played two tough teams today," head coach Karrin Moore said. "We battled harder in the second match and had a better serve-receive game, which translated into a better offense. We're looking to continue the upward swing in each match this weekend."

The Griffins lost the second match 3-0 (26-28, 23-25, 21-25), but battled Texas A&M Kingsville to the end of all three sets. Audrey Green led Westminster with 13 kills and Lydia Miller had 12. Katie Jacox had 15 assists and 17 digs.

In the day's first match, Westminster fell to St. Mary's (TX) 3-0 (16-25, 14-25, 20-25). Green had seven kills, Sydnee Simmons and Maggie Sala added five kills apiece. Aggie Roese-Olsen had 13 assists and Hannah Stearman had 15 digs.

The Griffins continue tournament play Friday against Augustana University at 4 pm MST, and finish against St. Edward's University on Saturday at 7:30 am MST.
