SALT LAKE CITY--It was a game of two halves for men's basketball as they fell to Colorado Mesa, 56-71.
The Griffins had a slow start going 0-4 from the field.Â
Jacob McCord's layup got the Griffins started followed by a
Jake Connor three. Joonas Tahvanainan scored his first bucket of the game and
Brandon Warr's three pointer finished a 10-0 run for its largest lead of the game, 10-7. After 10 lead changes and two ties, the half ended, 36-30, in favor of the Mavericks.
Second half shooting troubles put the game out of reach as the Griffins went 11-31 from the field, 1-7 from three-point range and 3-6 from the charity stripe.
Alec Monson and
Brandon Warr each scored 13 points to lead the Grifins' offense.Â
Jake Connor and
Jacob McCord scored eight and
Joonas Tahvanainen put up six points. Roudning off the scoring was
James Walljasper and
Brandon Willardson with three and
Jai Jai Ely with two.
Westminster returns to action Saturday night against Western Colorado.
