Salt Lake City – The Westminster Griffins women's basketball team found themselves down early in the first half of play as the Fort Lewis Skyhawks lead 33-29 at halftime. With a strong third quarter performance where the Griffins took control with their 25 points in the quarter to secure their 14conference victory of the season.
Kaylee Carlsen lead the team with 24 points with three shots beyond the arch and adding seven points from the free-throw line in the victory for Westminster.
Three other players added double digit scoring on the night for the Griffins as Oliva Eliss scored 15, Kaitlin Tolunono went 4-7 from the field with 10 points of her own and
Denise Gonzalez added 11 points on the night with seven assists.
Fort Lewis was led by Jordan Carter who went 8-14 from the field with 16 points and Sydney Canderlaria was the other Skyhawk with double figure adding 12 points for her team in defeat.
Next up for the Griffins they will face off with the top team in the RMAC next Friday night as Colorado Mesa will bring their unbeaten conference record to Salt Lake City at 5:30 MDT inside the Behnken Field House.
