SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster men's basketball used another late rally to beat South Dakota Mines 75-70 on Saturday night at Behnken Field House.
Trailing for most of the game, the Griffins were down by eight points with under four minutes to play. Westminster outscored South Dakota Mines 17-4 in the last 3:47, with
Jake Connor scoring eight points and
Brandon Warr adding  five during that stretch.
Warr's jumper with 56 seconds left gave the Griffins a 67-66 lead, and Connor and
Alec Monson combined to go 6 for 6 from the free throw line over the last 16 seconds to preserve the win.
Connor finished with 18 points to lead the Griffins, while Warr and Monson added 16 apiece. Warr also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Jai Jai Ely contributed 11 points.
The Griffins improved to 7-2 and 2-1 in RMAC play, while South Dakota Mines fell to 3-6 and 0-3 in conference.
Westminster will play on the road next weekend, facing Colorado State University Pueblo on Friday, December 13, and at New Mexico Highlands on Saturday, December 14. Both games will be streamed on the
