SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster women's basketball will hit the road for a pair of games at the Ashbrook Classic presented by Comfort Inn, hosted by Midwestern State University Texas, to open the 2019-20 season. The Griffins will play Midwestern State on Friday, November 8 at 2:30 p.m. and the University of Texas at Tyler on Saturday, November 9 at 4:30 p.m.
Westminster was picked to finish in second in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll and received five first-place votes. The Griffins finished 21-9, 17-5 RMAC and made it to the RMAC Championships final, falling to Colorado Mesa. Westminster also made an appearance in the NCAA South Central Regionals, losing in the first round to Angelo State University.
The Griffins return All-RMAC First Team forward
Hunter Krebs, who averaged 12.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season. Westminster also adds Colorado Christian transfer
Sarah McGinley, an All-RMAC second-team honoree last season. McGinley averaged 13.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last season for the Cougars.
Midwestern State finished last season with a 12-16 record, and UT-Tyler went 13-11.
