Box Score ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Westminster women's basketball improved to 5-0 with a 84-64 victory over Alaska-Fairbanks on Friday night at Alaska Airlines Center, led by
Mariah Martin's 26 points.
Martin's 26 points led four Griffins in double figures.
Sarah McGinley had a monster game, scoring 17 points, grabbing 13 rebounds dishing out 6 assists.
Kaitlin Toluono had 14 points and 9 rebounds, and
Hunter Krebs added 11 points.
The Griffins faced an early 8-2 deficit, but outscored the Nanooks 23-8 in the rest of the first period, including a 14-4 run, to take a 9-point lead after one quarter.
Westminster scored the first 14 points of the second quarter as the lead ballooned to 23, but Alaska-Fairbanks closed the half on an 11-1 run to cut the deficit to 10 at halftime.
The Griffins maintained a double-digit lead through the third quarter, and closed the period on a 9-2 run to take an 18-point advantage to the fourth. The lead grew as large as 25, as the Griffins coasted to the comfortable 20-point victory.
Westminster plays No. 11 Alaska-Anchorage in the Seawolf Hoops Classic finale tomorrow at 5:15 p.m MT. The game will be streamed live on
