Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas—The Westminster women's basketball capped off the weekend with a second road win to start the season 2-0. The Griffins defeated the University of Texas at Tyler (UTT)
Mariah Martin led the team in scoring for a second straight game and made the All-Tournament Team. Martín went 7-11 from the field, 3-7 from three and 4-4 from the charity stripe for 21 points.
Sarah McGinley was second on the team with 17 points.
The Patriots and Griffins battled through the first three periods with 10 lead changes and seven ties. Mcginley hit a pair of three at the beginning of the third period to give the Griffins a point-lead. A 18-5 run gave Westminster its largest lead of the game of 11 points, 39-28.
UTT narrowed the gap to three points with 43 seconds left in the game but a pair of free throws by Martín and McGinley sealed the win, 61-54.
Kaitlin Toluono underneath the basket grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the team.
Kaylee Carlsen led the team with five assists.
Westminster will continue the preseason on the road against Central Washington University and Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, on Friday (Nov. 15) and Saturday (Nov. 16).
