Box Score SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster men's soccer (10-5-2, 8-3-2 RMAC) suffered just its third conference loss this season, falling 2-0 to Dixie State (9-7-1, 8-5-0 RMAC) on Friday afternoon at Dumke Field.
Westminster outshot the Trailblazers, 14-13, and earned five corner kicks, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Dixie State opened the scoring in the 21st minute, when Moises Medina scored his ninth goal of the season. AJ Abbadessa sent a cross from the left side of the field into the box, and Medina headed the ball back across the goal and into the back left corner of the net to give the Trailblazers a 1-0 lead.
The Griffins increased the pressure throughout the game, creating multiple scoring opportunities. In the 87th minute, Westminster had filled the Dixie State box for a free kick. After the initial service was cleared, Westminster's second ball was intercepted immediately and led to a counter attack for the Trailblazers. Medina found Cole Schaffer on the run in the middle of the field, and he found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.
