COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Westminster's women's basketball team (9-2, 7-0 RMAC) defeated the UCCS Mountain Lions (5-8, 4-3 RMAC) to remain undefeated in conference play.
The Griffins shot 59.3 percent from the field, making 16-27 field goals and 3-5 three pointers, and 100 percent from the charity stripe, 8-8 from the line. An 8-2 run, in the middle of the first-quarter, increased Westminster's lead to 13. At the end of the quarter Westminster led, 29-17.
UCCS began the second quarter with 10 unanswered points and cut Westminster's lead to two. The Griffins answered with a 10-0 run of their own and outscored the home-side 12-2, regaining a 12-point lead.
The Griffins managed the third and fourth quarters for the win over the Mountain Lions, 75-60.
Westminster finished the night shooting 49.1 percent from the field, making 26-53 and 4-13 from beyond the arc, and a season high 90.5 percent from the charity stripe, making 19-21 from the line.
Denise Gonzalez led the Griffins with 27 points and went 9-10 from the free-throw line. Olivia Eliss scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Hunter Krebs scored 12 points.
