GOLDEN, Colo.--Westminster's men's basketball team (2-6,2-4 RMAC) began the new year on the road at Colorado School of Mines (9-3, 6-0 RMAC).  The Griffins lost to the Orediggers, 58-86.
Westminster had a difficult task to begin the new year, playing on the road at Colorado School of Mines, the top team in the conference.  After falling behind by 16, Westminster fought battled back to end the first half down by 10 points.
Difficulties from the field in the second half prevented the Griffins from coming back as the Orediggers extended its lead and finished the game defeating the Griffins, 58-86.
Westminster shot 19-48 from the field adn 3-8 from beyond the arc.  They shot 85 percent, 17-20, from the charity stripe.
Two Griffins scored double-digits.  
Alec Monson led the team with 15 points and 
Jai Jai Ely scored 10.  Both 
Jacob McCord and 
Joonas Tahvanainen produced nine points.
