LAS VEGAS, Nev.--The Westminster Spirit team won the cheer and mascot groups at the Dance Team Union 2018 College Invite.  The competition was held in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay.

Over two days, 50 Teams, including teams from UVU, Fullerton, Assumption College, St Ambrose College and Grand Valley State University,
competed in dance, cheer and mascot categories.  The Griffins placed in open jazz, hip-hop, cheer and mascot.

"I am pleased how well both the dance and cheer team worked together to achieve success!" said Head Coach Nicole Vogel.  :This was the first competition for both our cheer team and mascot."

The Griffins scored 80.3 in cheer and 53.9 in mascot to finish top in both categories.  The cheer team completed all of its stunts and had no touch downs during tumble for zero deductions.

The dance team placed seventh in hip hop (80.3) and ninth in open jazz (82.9).
