BOCA RATON, Fla.--Westminster (3-3, 0-1 RMAC) was called for nine penalties and gave up six goals while a man-down, losing 14-9 to Lynn University (6-1, 0-0 SSC).
The Knights took an early lead, scoring one minute in to the game.
Thomas Sarjeant evened the score, a few minutes later, with a goal assisted by
Blake Gross. Lynn scored three man-up goals and finished the quarter outscoring the Griffins 6-1 and finished the quarter with a 7-2 lead.
The two teams played to a 3-3 draw over the second and third period.
Nick Marcy and
Lane Kadish each scored in the second period and
Brad Belasco scored the lone Westminster goal in the third period. Westminster trailed by five going into the fourth quarter.
Lynn scored four goals to start the fourth quarter, and jumped out to a nine-point lead, 14-5. Westminster finished the game scoring four goals to cut the deficit to five points
Marcy led the Griffins with four points, scoring three goals and tallying one assist. Kadish followed closely with three points from a goal and an assist.
Eli Gaunt picked up four ground balls and won 4-7 face-offs. Marcy and
Chase Flinders each picked up three ground balls.
Kyle Williams caused two turnovers and gathered one ground ball.
Conner McFarlane and
Phillip Cannell each had time in front of the goal. McFarlane started the game and faced 14 shots making six saves. Cannell faced 10 shots and made four saves in the second half.
