The Westminster Griffins (7-18, 5-12 RMAC) women's volleyball team had three seniors play their final game inside the Benken Field House as the hosted UCCS on Senior Night. The Griffins fought tough all game long as they have all season but fell to defeat against the Cougars in three straight sets.
In set one the Cougars had 15 kills to 11 for 15 Westminster, but six attack errors hurt the Griffins as they fell 25-13. In set two the Griffins kept it close as they when they built some momentum down 21-13 and closed the gap to 21-17 before the Cougars tallied the final four points to win the set 25-18.
In the final set of the night the Cougars started fast with an early lead of 10-4 and didn't look back as the Griffins couldn't close the gap as they fell to defeat 25-8 in their final set in Salt Lake City.
Audrey Green led the team with eight kills, one ace and added six digs on the night where
Jaylee Lehenbauer led the team with 13 digs.
For the three seniors who were honored tonight starting with
Whitney Wakefield who had at total of seven points on seven kills and hit .353,
Reilly Cronyn had two points on two kills and hit .500 and added a dig and
Breanna Vawter record a dig and received six attempts.
The Griffins will end their regular season in St. George when they take on the Trailblazers of Dixie State on Friday, Nov. 2.
