SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's lacrosse team returned to the win column by defeating Rockhurst, 18-14, in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game at Dumke Field on Thursday.

Westminster (6-3, 4-2 RMAC) got 11 goals from
Kira Heiden and
Katie Adams in the win. The RMAC's top two leading scorers scored seven straight goals for the Griffins during a 7-3 second half run. Westminster outscored Rockhurst (7-6, 3-3 RMAC) 10-6 in the second half to earn the victory.

Heiden finished the game with six goals on eight shots. Adams scored five goals and added a pair of assists for a team-high seven points. The duo also carried the team's 24-9 edge in draw controls with Heiden grabbing 11 and Adams getting eight.

The Griffins took 32 shots as a team with 27 of those on cage. They overcame 26 turnovers with the big draw control advantage and by going 13 of 17 in clearing attempts.

Madison Ingman added three goals in the win.
Morgan Bakarich – the RMAC leader in assists – finished with three helpers to reach 99 career points.

Westminster's defense held the Hawks to 25 shots and only nine in the second half. Rockhurst committed 20 turnovers and the Griffins had 10 caused turnovers. The home side also posted a 21-15 advantage in ground balls.

Bakarich, Heiden, and
Annelise Preite had two caused turnovers apiece to lead the Griffins.

Mikala Anderson earned her first career victory playing the second half of the game and making one save.
Taylor Hekking made five stops in the first half.

Hannah Weisbrod led Rockhurst with four goals and Madeline Gilstrap tallied six assists.

Westminster will head for Colorado next weekend to play a pair of games. They are at No. 15 Regis on April 13 in Denver at 4 p.m.
