DENVER – The Westminster women's lacrosse team trailed by only two goals with 28:57 to play on Thursday before No. 15 Regis scored the game's final 11 goals in a 23-10 win in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on Thursday.

Westminster (6-4, 4-3 RMAC) never led in the game after Regis (11-1, 5-0 RMAC) notched the first two goals of the contest. The Griffins would get back within one goal on three separate occasions in the first half, including at 9-8 on a
Kathleen Hendershott goal with 3:36 to play before halftime.

Trailing 12-8 at halftime, the Griffins opened the second half with consecutive goals from
Katie Adams and
Allison Lambert to trail 12-10 at the 28:57 mark. The rest of the game belonged to the home side as they held the Griffins to just eight shots the rest of the way while taking 19.

Regis finished the game with a 37-24 edge in shot attempts and a 30-20 lead in shots on goal. Draw controls were 19-16 in favor of the Rangers and they won the ground ball battle, 25-18. Westminster committed 22 turnovers and went 13 of 15 in clearing chances.

Kira Heiden scored three goals to lead the Griffins in that category while Lambert and
Morgan Bakarich had two goals apiece.
Madison Ingman finished with a goal and four assist to lead the team with five points.

With her two goals, Bakarich became the eighth player in school history to record 100 career points.

Heiden claimed another seven draw controls to remain the RMAC leader in that category.
Daisy Mele led the team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Taylor Hekking suffered the loss in goal allowing 12 goals with four saves in the first half.
Mikala Anderson played the second half with three saves and 11 goals allowed.

Ali Vanek led Regis with six goals and eight points. Erin Todd added five goals and one assist.

The Griffins will now head to Pueblo, Colo. where they will face Colorado State – Pueblo on Saturday at noon.
