2017 SCHEDULE
Westminster finishes 2017 at MSU Denver and Colorado Christian
The Westminster College men's soccer team (5-10-1, 3-8-1 RMAC) will finish it's 2017 season on the road in a rematch with last week's opponents. On Thursday the team will play MSU Denver at 12:00 PM and Colorado Christian on Saturday at 1:30 PM. The games will be broadcast on the
RMACÂ Network and available to follow on live stats.
The Week In Review - Split Results
Men's soccer split results last week losing one and winning one. The loss came to MSU Denver on Friday.Â
Amit Hefer scored in the 37th minute to put the Griffins in front. Goalkeeper
Max Medley mad 2 important saves that kept the score 1-0 at half time. MSU started the second half quickly and got a goal in the 49th minute to tie the game. Westminster regained the lead three minutes later through a
Brigham Jackson goal assisted by
Marshall Johnson. MSU out shot Westminster 16 to 7 in the second half. The Roadrunners would take the lead and win the game, 3-2, through two incredible strikes from distance in the 66th minute and 81st minute.
"We were unlucky," head coach
Josh Pittman said. "Two unbelievable shots made all the difference today."
Seven seniors were recognized and played their final match at Dumke field against Colorado Christian University.Â
Brigham Jackson earned a penalty kick in the 27th minute and
Amit Hefer finished the opportunity to put the Griffins in the lead. CCU tied the game up almost immediately in the 28th minute scoring off a cross from the right side. The Griffins controlled and dominated the match out shooting CCU 20 to 7. CCU had a great chance to take the lead off of a diving header inside the goal box at the back post. Fortunately for the Griffins the CCU forward bounced the ball over the goal. A cross from
Amit Hefer, from the right side, found
Hunter Kone at the backpost and with a diving header Kone was able to put the ball past the keeper to lead the Griffins to victory 2-1.
Scouting the Opponents
In a rematch of last week, men's soccer will play MSU Denver and Colorado Christian to finish the 2017 season. MSU has an overall record of 8-8 and a conference record of 8-4. The Roadrunners lost 1-0 in a close game at Colorado MesaOver on Sunday. Over half of the Roadrunner's goals have come from Nils Runnberg with six, Yannick Schad with four, and Dylan Wood with four. They have only been shutout in two matches this season.

Colorado Christian University comes into the week with a 1-12-3 overall record and a 1-9-2 conference record. The Trailblazers went 0-2 last week losing 2-0 to Colorado Mesa and 2-1 to Westminster.. CCU has been out scored 38 to 13, giving up almost twice as many goals in the second half and out shot 324 to 143.
Men's Soccer
The 2017 season is the 34th season of competition for the Westminster men's soccer program. The Griffins went 4-13 last season, its second competing in the
RMAC and against an NCAA Division II schedule. Â The Griffins are competing in their third season of
RMACÂ play since beginning the NCAA II provisional membership process.
