SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team dropped a home match the No. 17 Colorado School of Mines, 8-25, 11-25, 23-25, on Saturday afternoon in the Behnken Field House.
Westminster fell to 2-10 overall this season and 0-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with their sixth straight loss. Colorado Mines improves to 10-2 and 4-0.
The Griffins could match the offensive attack from the visitors as the Orediggers finished with a 46-26 advantage in kills. Mines hit .318 in the match and held Westminster to .018. The Griffins hit negative during the first two sets before getting 14 kills and hitting .225 in the third.
Savannah Ipsen led the Griffins with six kills and nine digs. The freshman hit .294 in the match to also lead the team.
Aubrey Louder and
Desiree Wickwar added five kills apiece.
Taylor Gustafson had 15 assists and eight digs.
Hannah Stearman and
Emilie Austin recorded seven digs each.
CSM totaled 54 digs and 10.5 blocks in the win and they held the Griffins to 43 digs and three blocks. Alanna Winfield led the Orediggers with 14 kills and six blocks. Ellie Monarch had nine kills and hit .818.
The Griffins will conclude their three-game homestand on Wednesday when they step out of conference play to host in-state opponent, Dixie State. That game will begin at 6 p.m. in the Behnken Field House with tickets available at WestminsterGriffins.com/tickets.
