ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The second day of action at the SpringHill Suites Invitational for the Westminster volleyball team came to a close with a 3-0 loss to No. 19 Arkansas Fort Smith on Friday night.

Westminster (0-3) fell behind early in each set and suffered the 25-20, 25-16, 25-22 defeat.

It was another tough match for the Griffins as they only tallied 27 kills in the loss. Arkansas Fort Smith (2-0) held Westminster to .074 hitting while getting 46 kills and hitting .254 on their side of the net. The Lions had a 65-54 advantage in digs and 9-4 edge in blocks.

Amara Spere finished the match with seven kills and a career high 13 digs.
Desiree Wickwar hit .385 with six kills and
Sydnee Simmons also had six kills.
Whitney Wakefield contributed five kills in defeat.

Spere's 13 digs led the team while
Megan Gallegos had 12 and
Hannah Stearman finished with 10. Spere also had three aces for the Griffins.

Kennedi Coleman led the Lions with 13 kills while Anna Demmer posted 12. Emily Tripp finished with 32 digs.

The Griffins will complete the trip to Alaska on Saturday morning when they face Rollins at 11 a.m. MT.
