ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Westminster women's volleyball team saw its trip to the SpringHill Suites Invitational come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Rollins on Saturday morning.
 
Westminster (0-4) fell by scores of 25-20, 15-25, 26-16, 15-16.
 
The Griffins rebounded from losing the first set by having its best set of the tournament in the second. They totaled 15 kills in the set and hit .483 to earn their first set win of the year. The team wasn't able to carry that momentum into the rest of the match and suffered the loss
 
Rollins (1-2) finished the match with a 54-41 advantage in total kills and they hit .290 to the .160 of Westminster. The Tars recorded nine blocks and nine service aces to go with 56 digs. The Griffins had 54 digs with five blocks and three aces.
 
Amara Spere finished with a season-best 10 kills in defeat. Sydnee Simmons added nine kills and .278 hitting. Amber Lamborn led three Griffins in double figures with 13 digs. Emilie Austin had 18 assists, 12 digs, and two aces.
 
Shannon McDonough led Rollins with 16 kills and Bri Civiero added 13.
 
The Griffins will now return home where they will host the Fairfield Inn & Suites Invitational next weekend in the Behnken Field House. The event runs on September 9-10 and features five matches each day starting at 10 a.m. MT. Tickets for the event are available at WestminsterGriffins.com/tickets.
