SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team closed out the home schedule with a 71-62 win over Chadron State on Saturday night in the Behnken Field House.

Westminster (11-14, 8-13 RMAC) used a big fourth quarter to secure a win in their final home game. The Griffins scored 27 points in the final quarter – their highest scoring fourth quarter of the season – and they held Chadron State (8-17, 8-13) to just 16.

Most of the damage was done during a 6-minute stretch of the final quarter in which the Griffins went on a 19-5 run. They hit three 3-pointers during the span and they held the Eagles to just 2 of 11 shooting.

Westminster finished the game shooting 39.7 percent from the field, but they made 46.7 percent in the second half. They scored 15 points from 13 CSC turnovers and turned 14 offensive rebounds into 15 points.

Aubrie Vale finished the game with 18 points on 7 of 13 shooting. The junior was all over the floor as she grabbed nine rebounds to go with seven assists and four steals. The Griffins also got a solid night from
Natalie Parsons as the senior finished with 15 points and four hits from beyond the arc.

The Griffins recorded 14 assists and just nine turnovers in the win. They limited Chadron State to 39 percent shooting and just 4 of 19 from three.

Whitni Syrett and
Riley Reidhead combined to score 22 of the Griffins 24 bench points.
Jessica Sorensen had six points and 11 rebounds – including six offensive – in her final home game as a Griffin.

Chadron State was led by 24 points and 18 rebounds from Maka Daysh.

Westminster will close the season on Friday when they travel to Grand Junction, Colo., to face Colorado Mesa at 5:30 p.m. MT. The game will be carried live on Griffins TV.
