ThunderWolves Stop Griffins in Four

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Westminster women's volleyball team got a combined 29 kills from Aubrey Louder and Amara Spere in a 3-1 loss at Colorado State – Pueblo on Saturday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
 
Westminster (4-21, 2-14 RMAC) had just 41 kills as a team in the match and only hit .079 in the 21-25, 15-25, 25-21, 14-25 loss. CSU-Pueblo (11-14, 9-7) recorded 59 kills and .235 hitting to earn the victory.
 
Louder led the Griffins with 16 kills to tie her career high. She finished the match hitting .146 while adding six digs. Spere totaled 13 kills, seven digs, and two blocks with her .205 hitting.
 
With her eighth kill of the night, Spere became the fourth player in school history to record 800 career kills.
 
CSUP held the Griffins to 11 kills or less in all four sets. On the other side, the ThunderWolves had at least 13 kills in every set and hit above .268 in the final three frames. The home team added an 86-70 edge in digs and 5-4 lead in blocks to overcome the Griffins 6-2 edge in service aces.
 
Savannah Ipsen added seven kills for the Griffins and was the only other player with multiple kills on the night. She also tallied 16 digs for the second straight double-double. Hannah Stearman tallied 19 digs and two aces while Taylor Gustafson had 38 assists.
 
Mariangel Perez had 14 kills to lead the ThunderWolves. Caitlin Broadwell added 12 and Megan Schultz had 10.
 
The Griffins will have Sunday off before facing Fort Lewis on Monday in Durango, Colo. That match will begin at 7 p.m. and be available live in the RMAC Network.
