Griffins Visit Weber State and Host Dixie State This Week
The Westminster women's basketball team has another two games on the agenda this week. They will begin action on Tuesday when they face Weber State in an exhibition game for the Griffins on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Ogden, Utah. The Griffins then welcome in-state opponent Dixie State to the Behnken Field House on Friday at 2 p.m.

About the Griffins
Westminster starts the week at 1-2 overall after a 1-1 trip to Oregon last weekend. The Griffins are 0-2 on the road and 0-1 on a neutral court. They have also dropped a pair of exhibition road games to Brigham Young and Utah State.
For the season, Westminster is scoring 62.0 points per game. They are shooting 43.2 percent from the field to rank fourth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while placing sixth in the league by making 32.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Griffins distribute 11.7 assists per contest.

Vale leads all Griffins with 15 rebounds and she has pulled 12 on the defensive end. Williams and

After starting last season 6-11, Westminster closed the year by winning six of their final nine games. Four of those wins came on the road, including a 69-62 overtime win at Colorado Mesa in the season finale. The Griffins averaged 63.1 points per game over the span and had a plus-five rebounds margin.
Counting on Experience
With 12 players returning from a season ago, the Griffins will count on that experience to help them to a faster start this season. The returning players scored 62 percent of the team's total from the 2015-16 campaign while playing 56 percent of the minutes. Five of the returners played at least 298 minutes last season and six scored in double figures at least one time.
Immediate Impact
Sydnee Taylor currently leads the Griffins in scoring at 14.0 points per game. After scoring 17 in the season opener at Northwest Nazarene, Taylor went for 25 points at Concordia (Ore.) last Friday. She made 5 of 6 from beyond the arc that night and she is 10th in the RMAC by making 46.2 percent from three this season.
Vale's Value
Aubrie Vale is tied for second on the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game. The senior has twice scored in double figures, including 14 points with four triples against Saint Martin's on Saturday. Vale also leads the team at 5.0 rebounds per game and ranks second among the Griffins with seven assists. Vale is tied for ninth in the RMAC by shooting 85.7 percent at the foul line and she makes 2.0 3-pointers per game.

Denise Gonzalez is tied with Vale for second on the team at 9.3 points per game. Gonzalez led the team with 18 points in the season opener at Northwest Nazarene. She is shooting 44.8 percent from the field and has six assists and a team-high five steals.
