Mavericks Sweep Griffins

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team fell in three sets (21-25, 17-25, 20-25) to Colorado Mesa on Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
 
Westminster (4-18, 2-11) couldn't keep pace with the Colorado Mesa (18-4, 12-2) offensive attack as the visitors went for 45 kills to just 30 from the Griffins. CMU hit .225 on the night and added eight service aces and with blocks.
 
Westminster hung around in the opening set by limiting the Mavericks to .102 hitting. Both teams warmed up in the second set, but CMU got 18 kills and .389 hitting while the Griffins had 11 kills and .206 hitting. The Mavericks completed the sweep with 13 kills and .229 hitting in the third.
 
Amara Spere led the Westminster attack with eight kills and .227 hitting. Aubrey Louder added seven kills. No other Griffin player had more than three kills on the night.
 
Hannah Stearman provided the Griffins with 14 digs while Amber Lamborn and Savannah Ipsen had nine digs each. Katie Allen posted six blocks.  Taylor Gustafson led the team with 15 assists.
 
The Griffins had seven blocks as a team and tallied 50 digs.
 
CMU had three players record double figures in kills with Hattie Gianinetti leading the way with 12. Taylor Woods had 17 digs.
