RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Westminster men's soccer team opened the final weekend of the season with a 2-1 win at South Dakota Mines on Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
 
Westminster (4-12, 3-10 RMAC) picked up its second road win of the season with the victory. They took the lead in the 29th minute when Braxten Ramirez scored on a free kick delivered from Hunter Stutz.
 
South Dakota Mines (2-14, 2-12) pulled the game even in the 56th minute as Lars Skau scored on a feed from Andreas Skau.
 
It didn't take the Griffins long to go back in front with Brock Charlesworth finding the winner in the 58th minute. Cristian Alfaro recorded an assist on the goal for his fourth assist of the year.
 
Westminster outshout the Hardrockers 10-8 in the game. The Griffins put five of those chances on goal with a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.
 
Alfaro led the team with three shots with Ramirez had a pair of chances on frame, including his goal. Max Medley earned the win in goal with four saves.
 
The Griffins will close the season on Sunday when they face Regis University in Denver. That game begins at 11 a.m. along with all the men's soccer games around the RMAC. The game will be broadcast live on the RMAC Network.
