DENVER – The Westminster men's soccer team ended the 2016 season with a 5-2 loss at No. 7 Regis University on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

Westminster concludes its first season under head coach
Josh Pittman at 4-13 overall. They went 3-11 in RMAC play to finish in a tie for eighth-place with nine points.

Regis (13-3-1, 10-3-1 RMAC) secured the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in next week's RMAC Tournament with the victory. The Rangers led -0 at halftime behind a goal by Sawyer Lincoln.

The Griffins pulled the game even in the 54th minute when
Jonnathan Rodriguez found the back of the net on a feed by
Andrew Clayton. The game changed over the next six minutes as the home side got goals from Ryan Urwiller and Noah Chapleski to open a 3-1 advantage.

Westminster would get back within 3-2 in the 62nd minute after
Jaden Olsen headed in a free kick by
Braxten Ramirez for his third goal of the year.

After Ramirez had a scoring chance stopped by the Regis keeper, the Rangers made it 4-2 in the 78th minute as Lincoln scored again. He would complete the game's scoring in the 79th minute to secure a hat trick.

The Griffins outshot the Rangers 15-12 on the day and they were able to get five of their chances on goal. Olsen led the team with four shots – two on goal – while
Connor Thompson,
Cristian Alfaro, and Rodriguez each had two shots.

Max Medley suffered the loss in goal with two saves.
