SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team came up a few points short in a 23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 24-26 loss to Adams State on Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

Westminster (3-17, 1-10 RMAC) battled through 19 ties and six lead changes on a night they allowed 70 kills while only getting 50 on their side. The Griffins were able to keep the sets within reach by forcing Adams State (12-9, 7-5) into 32 hitting errors and only committing 17 themselves.

After dropping the first two sets, the Griffins were able to extend the match to a fourth after taking a 21-13 lead. The visitors battled back to within 23-21 before Westminster was able to close the set with a kills from
Aubrey Louder.

Adams State raced out to the early lead in the fourth set and had a 20-13 advantage. The Griffins rallied back to even the frame at 22-22 and again at 24-24 before consecutive kills by Briannah Mariner closed the match.

Savannah Ipsen carried the offensive burden for the Griffins as the freshman finished with a career high 19 kills. She hit .320 on the night with only three errors. Ipsen also recorded nine digs and four blocks.

Amber Lamborn set her career high with 10 kills and added 14 digs for her first career double-double. Louder also had 10 kills.
Hannah Stearman provided a career-best 22 digs while
Katie Allen had five blocks.

Westminster hit .184 in the match and tallied 77 digs and 10 blocks. They allowed Adams State to .195 hitting with the Grizzlies getting 92 digs and seven blocks.

Mariner had 20 kills and 20 digs for the Grizzlies. Mallory Grimsrud added 16 kills.
