RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Westminster women's volleyball team won for the first time in over a month with a 3-1 win at South Dakota Mines on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

Westminster snaps its 12-match losing streak and improves to 3-16 overall. They pick up their first RMAC win of the year and are now 1-9 in conference matches.

It was the Griffin offense that led the way in the 25-23, 19-25, 25-14, 25-21 victory. They tied a season high with 52 kills with the .241 hitting ranking as their second-best effort of the year. South Dakota Mines (1-20, 0-10 RMAC) recorded 43 kills and hit .156.

Amara Spere and
Aubrey Louder combined for 34 of the Griffins total kills in the win. While Spere led the way with 18, Louder went for a career-best 16 kills and .394 hitting. Spere added 12 digs for her second double-double of the season.

The teams split the opening two sets, including the Griffins rallying from 18-15 down in the first. After the Hardrockers took an early lead to win the second, Westminster raced to a 19-6 lead in the third to take a 2-1 lead. The Griffins secured the victory with a 6-2 start in the fourth to take a lead they never relinquished.

Desiree Wickwar added to the Westminster effort with nine kills.
Taylor Gustafson finished with 45 assists and three service aces.
Amber Lamborn had 13 digs while
Kate Tsourmas had seven blocks.

Kenzie Devries led the home team with 11 kills.
