DENVER – The Westminster women's volleyball team came up short in the finale of their weekend road trip as they fell to Regis 17-25, 17-25, 13-25 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action on Saturday evening.
Westminster fell to 2-13 overall this season and 0-6 in conference play with the defeat. Regis moves to 7-7 and 3-3 with their victory.
The Griffins could never get into an offensive rythem as they put together just 23 kills in the three sets. They only hit .039 in the match and never had more than nine kills in a set. Regis totaled 43 kills and .273 hitting as the Rangers posted at least 12 kills in each set.
Amara Spere finished the night with 10 kills to lead the Griffins. She could only put together .063 hitting while adding five digs and three blocks.
Savannah Ipsen and
Desiree Wickwar finished with four kills apiece.
Westminster had two service aces in the match – one each from
Hannah Stearman and
Emilie Austin – and the had 45 digs. Stearman led the team with 14 digs with Ipsen adding 13.
Katie Klein had 12 kills to lead the home team.
The Griffins will return home to host a pair of conference matches next weekend. The opener of the weekend set comes on Friday against UCCS at 6 p.m.
