Griffins Sweep Weekend; Defeat CSU-Pueblo 89-75

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball team completed a weekend sweep with an 89-75 win over Colorado State University – Pueblo on Saturday night in the Behnken Field House.

Westminster (11-8, 7-8 RMAC) wins both games of a conference weekend for the first time this season, their first in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. They have now won three consecutive games for the first time since early December.

CSU-Pueblo (12-9, 8-7 RMAC) led 15-11 just over eight minutes into the game. The Griffins then scored 12 straight points to open an 8-point advantage with 8:31 to play in the half. That is a lead they never relinquished the rest of the night. A 27-9 run in the second half pushed the lead to 22 – the largest lead of the season in any game – and provided enough cushion for the 14-point victory.

Casey Evans led the way with a career high 23 points on 9 of 13 shooting. His fourth 20-point scoring effort of the season also featured six rebounds and two assists.

Westminster held the ThunderWolves to 36.8 percent shooting and the visitors were just 8 of 34 from beyond the arc. The guests scored 14 points from 12 offensive rebounds and had 15 assists and only nine turnovers.
