CHADRON, Neb. – The Westminster women's basketball team fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 71-58 loss at Chadron State College on Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

The game started with Chadron State (6-10, 6-6 RMAC) scoring the first seven points of the game and taking a 19-11 lead after the opening quarter. Westminster (6-10, 3-9) only scored six points in the second quarter and trailed 30-17 at intermission.

It was a tough offensive night for the Griffins as they made only 38 percent from the floor and committed 16 turnovers. They did make 7 of 14 from beyond the arc and record 16 assists. Chadron State shot 48.4 percent and outscored the Griffins in the paint, 40-18.

Aubrie Vale carried the team as she went for a career high 28 points – the most by a Griffin this season – behind 6 of 6 on 3-pointers. That is the most 3-pointers made without a miss in school history and the most points scored by a Griffin player since 2014. She scored 21 of her points in the second half and also had two assists and three steals.

Natalie Parsons added 12 points and six assists in defeat.
Whitni Syrett added 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Chadron State got 17 points from Stephanie Knowles and 16 from Maka Daysh.
