DENVER – The road struggles of the Westminster women's basketball team continued on Saturday as they lost at Regis University, 55-44, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
Westminster (6-11, 3-10) took a four-point lead into the fourth quarter before scoring just two points in the final period and dropping a sixth consecutive road contest. Regis (11-8, 9-4) outscored the Griffins 17-2 in the period and held them to 1 of 12 shooting.
Those final quarter shooting woes led to the team shooting 38.8 percent for the game. They made just 3 of 15 from beyond the arc and were 0 of 7 in the fourth. The Griffins scored 24 points in the paint and got 12 points from 11 turnovers by Regis.
For the second straight night
Aubrie Vale led Westminster in scoring. The junior went for 12 points on Saturday on 5 of 10 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers. She also grabbed five rebounds and had two assists.
Natalie Parsons added seven points for the Griffins and
Denise Gonzalez finished with six.
Regis got a game-high 18 points from Caresse Williams. Bay'lee Purdy had 16 points and Kaylie Rader had eight points and 13 rebounds.
The Griffins will now return home for two games next weekend. They welcomes Western State Colorado to the Behnken Field House on Friday at 5:30 p.m. MT. Tickets for the game are available by visiting
