SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's lacrosse team surrendered an early six-goal advantage and feel to Colorado Mesa, 17-16, in the season finale on Saturday afternoon at Dumke Field.

Westminster (8-3) had a 7-1 lead midway through the first half, before taking a 9-6 lead into the intermission. The Griffins never surrendered the lead until Colorado Mesa (8-5) scored on a free-position goal by Lydia Furrow with six seconds to play.

Westminster took 35 shots in the game and they put 29 of them on goal. The Griffins allowed 36 shots to Mesa (25 on goal) and the visitors posted a 20-15 edge in draw controls. Westminster was just 2-of-11 in free-position shots and they had 15 turnovers.

Kira Heiden finished the game with six goals to lead the Griffins.
Katie Adams scored four goals on nine shots.
Maddie Haynes tallied three goals and
Abby Sebastian went for two goals and two assists.
Morgan Bakarich contributed one goal and three assists.

Makenzie Hekking made eight saves in cage for the Griffins.

Furrow led the Mavericks with six goals and two assists. Kayla Lyall added three goals and three assists.
