ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Westminster women's basketball team picked up its first road win of the season by knocking off in-state opponent Dixie State, 61-55, on Tuesday night at Burns Arena.

Westminster (2-1) trailed 23-22 at the half after being outscored 12-7 in the second quarter. After Dixie State (0-3) scored the first basket of the second half, the Griffins ran off 11 straight points to start a 19-7 run to take a lead they never gave up.

Natalie Parsons led all players with 24 points on 8 of 13 shooting. She made three of her five attempts from beyond the arc and added four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one blocked shot.

The Griffins finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field and thy made four 3-pointers. They got 12 points from 12 offensive rebounds and had a 40-35 edge in total rebounds. Dixie was held to 30.6 percent shooting and they committed 19 turnovers for 20 Griffin points.

Jessica Sorensen added a career high 13 points in the win. She made 6 of 7 from the floor with seven rebounds and two steals.
Aubrie Vale added 10 points and four assists.

Aliya Davis led Dixie with 16 points and three triples.
