GOLDEN, Colo. – The Westminster men's soccer team opened a two-game road swing with a 6-0 loss at No. 13 Colorado School of Mines on Friday evening at Stermole Stadium.
The top team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference scored five goals in the first half to drop the Griffins to 1-7-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the RMAC this season. Colorado Mines improved to 9-0-1 and 7-0-0 with the win.
Westminster surrendered 24 shots in the loss while taking just 10 themselves. The Griffins got six of those attempts on goal, with four coming in the second half.
Richard Garvey notched a hat trick for the Orediggers to give him nine goals on the year. He scored the game's first two goals in the 17th and 19th minutes.
Westminster will conclude its weekend trip on Sunday when they visit Colorado Christian in Lakewood, Colo., at 11 a.m.
