Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Griffins Close Home Slate with 3-0 Shutout of CSU-Pueblo

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's soccer team completed its home schedule of games with a 3-0 win against Colorado State University – Pueblo on Sunday afternoon at Dumke Field.

Westminster secured a sixth consecutive winning season as they move to 9-6-1 on the year. They will complete their first year in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at 5-5-1. The loss drops CSU-Pueblo to 7-7-2 overall and 3-5-1 in the RMAC.

Neither team could generate much offense in the first half as they each had only two shots until the closing moments of the period. That is when Madison Roemer ripped a shot from 35 yards out that found the back of the net with one second left before the break and gave the Griffins a stunning 1-0 lead.

Westminster would use the momentum of Roemer's fourth goal of the season into the second half. After Rylie North headed a shot off the crossbar, Madeline Orr collected the rebound and out it away for her third goal of the season in the 54th minute.

The Griffins would add a season high third goal of the game in the 65th minute when Alicia May delivered a corner kick into the area for Megan Molumby to head home for her third goal of the campaign.

Westminster would secure a second straight shutout and finish the game with an 11-4 edge in shots. The home side put nine shots on goal and attempted three corner kicks.

Abi Yanke recorded three saves to complete her fifth shutout of the season. The win ties her with Dayna Winter-Nolte for the Westminster all-time lead of 31 career victories and extends her shutout record to 21.

The Griffins will conclude the season on November 1, when they face Colorado Mesa at 1 p.m., in Grand Junction, Colo.
