SALT LAKE CITY — The Westminster women's soccer team scored a goal late in the second half to get the win over the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls Friday afternoon at Dumke Field.
The Griffins (8-6-1, 4-5-1 RMAC) and the Cowgirls (6-8-1, 4-3-1 RMAC) went scoreless in the first half with just four shots apiece. The Griffins came out in the second half on the attack finishing the second half with eight shots holding New Mexico Highlands to three.
The only goal of the game came in the 88th minute from Westminster's
Madison Roemer, who knocked it in off the cross bar from 20 yards out. Roemer had three shots on goal and found the back of the net on her final attempt.
Heidi Lorschider added her first assist of the season on Roemer's third goal.
The Griffins will continue RMAC play with their final home game and Senior Day on Sunday at 1 p.m. verses Colorado State-Pueblo.
