SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's soccer team fell behind early and weren't able to rally in a 3-1 loss to Colorado State University – Pueblo in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game on Friday afternoon at Dumke Field.
Westminster (2-9-1, 1-7-1 RMAC) only managed five shots in the game and only put two of them on goal. The first came from
Brock Charlesworth in the 60th minute.
They got on the board in the 80th minute when
Hunter Kone took the ball from the visiting keeper and scored on an empty net for his second goal of the season.
CSU-Pueblo (7-6, 3-4) went ahead in the third minute with a strike by Matt Marchena. Sam Glawe made it 2-0 with a goal in the 11th minute and the ThunderWolves completed the scoring in the 24th minute when Zach Davis scored by heading in a free kick.
The visiting side recorded 22 shots with 12 on goal. The Griffins attempted two corner kicks and
Taylor Ruff made nine saves in defeat.
Westminster will return to action on October 23 when they travel to Denver for a contest at MSU Denver.
