SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's soccer team was defeated by Colorado Mesa, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Dumke Field in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game.

Westminster drops to 2-8-1 overall this season with the loss. They remain at 1-6-1 in RMAC play as the game didn't count towards the conference standings. Colorado Mesa improves to 9-3-1 overall and they are 5-2 in the conference.

The visiting Mavericks took the lead in the 28th minute when Oscar Odriozola headed in a free kick from Luis Schraidt. They pushed the advantage to 2-0 in the 30th minute when Roy Abergil finished after a cross by Kevin Escobar that was flicked by Odriozola.

CMU made it 3-0 in the 40th minute as Kevin Del Mazo fired a shot from 20 yards away after James McGhee played a through ball over the top of the Griffin defense. Jacob Dominiguez scored in the 83rd minute to set the final line at 4-0.

Westminster took eight shots in the game and they put three of then on goal. Hinter Stutz had a chance from 30 yards on a free kick turned away in the second half with a diving save from the CMU keeper.
