GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Playing the first of two road games on consecutive nights, the Westminster men's basketball team suffered a 67-53 loss at No. 19 Great Falls (Mont.) in a Frontier Conference game on Friday night at the McLaughlin Center.

The loss is the second straight for Westminster and drops them to 8-9 overall this season and 1-3 in Frontier Conference games. Great Falls improves to 15-4 and 4-1 in the conference with their fifth win over the Griffins in 34 outings.

The Griffins played from behind all night as they were hit with a 13-0 run from UGF to start the game. They were able to get the deficit to within seven on a couple of occasions in the first half before trailing 38-26 at intermission. The Argonauts would push the advantage to 61-40 with 7:48 to play before the Griffins closed with 13 of the final 19 points.

Westminster finished the game shooting just 36.7 percent from the floor and they only made five threes in the game – three below their season average. Great Falls shot 51.1 percent and they out-rebounded the Griffins 35-19 with 10 offensive rebounds. The Griffins had 11 assists and only 10 turnovers while forcing UGF into 15 turns.

Kenny Woodard led Westminster with 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting off the bench.
William Walker added 11 points to help the team to 34 bench points.
Quincy Bair finished with seven points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Darren Lockett led three Argonauts in double figures with 16 points by shooting 6-of-9 from the floor. Steven Daho had 15 points and Marcus Hurn chipped in 11.

Westminster will now head to Havre, Mont. for a Saturday night contest at Montana State-Northern. The tip from Armory Gymnasium is slated for 8 p.m. MT.
