HAVRE, Mont. –
Quincy Bair scored a career-high 32 points, but it wasn't enough as the Westminster men's basketball team saw a late three-point barrage from Montana State-Northern lead them to a 68-63 win in Frontier Conference action on Saturday night in Armory Gymnasium.
Â
Westminster falls to 8-10 overall this season and they are now 1-4 in Frontier action with the loss. MSU-Northern improves to 13-9 overall and 2-4 in the league.
Â
Bair shot 10-of-13 from the field and made four treys in scoring the most points by a Griffin this season. It is only the second time in his career the junior has surpassed 20 points in a game and almost double his previous season-best of 18. He also grabbed three rebounds and recorded a steal in the win.
Â
The Griffins shot 50 percent from the floor in the game and they were 6-of-16 (37.5 percent) from beyond the arc. They finished the game with a 27-25 rebounding advantage, but allowed Northern to grab 12 offensive rebounds – five in a single possession late in the second half – and watched the Lights connect from three 13 times.
Â
Jordan Pryor was the only other Griffin in double figures with 11 while
Nick Jenson finished with six points and 10 rebounds (five offensive).
Â
Trevail Lee led Northern with 19 points after shooting 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Corbin Pearson added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Â
The Griffins will spend next weekend at home for a pair of games to complete the first half of the conference season. They begin the week against Montana Tech on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. MT in the Behnken Field House. Tickets for that game and all remaining home games are available at
