Griffin Men Visit No. 19 Great Falls, Montana State-Northern

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball team will spend the weekend in Mont. for a pair of Frontier Conference games. Westminster will begin the trip on Friday against No. 19 Great Falls (Mont.) at 7:30 p.m. MT in the McLaughlin Center. The Griffins will then face Montana State-Northern on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Armory Gymnasium.
 
On the Web: Both games of the trip will be available to watch online courtesy of each school's athletic department. There will also be live stats for each of the contests. Links for the live features are available on the Westminster athletics web site.
 
Griffin Fast Break: Westminster will return to the road at 8-8 overall this season and currently tied for fifth in the Frontier Conference at 1-2. They have gone 0-2 in road games this season and 3-4 in all games played outside the Behnken Field House. The Griffins have dropped two straight road games overall and they are 2-3 against ranked opponents this season.
 
Offense Notebook: The Griffins head to the road scoring 77.25 points per game which ranks 46th in the NAIA on the year. They are 43rd nationally by shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 34th by making 70 percent at the foul line. The team makes 8.12 threes per outing – 19th in the NAIA – and they rank 25th in the country by shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc. The Griffins place 25th in the country at 15.62 assists per game while their 1.10 assist-to-turnover ratio is 20th in the NAIA.
 
Defense Notebook: Westminster is giving up 72.62 points per game on the season and they hold the opposition to 45.5 percent shooting. They have held seven opponents under 70 points while allowing just 7.69 threes per game. Griffin opponents shoot 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and Westminster grabs 36.31 rebounds per game. They are forcing 17.13 turnovers per outing and generate 9.0 steals per game to rank 22nd in the country.
 
Leaders: Jordan Pryor leads four Griffins that average in double figures at 13.06 points per game. He also leads the team by shooting 42.3 percent from beyond the arc and making 2.75 treys per game. Kenny Woodard is scoring 12.19 points per game and he leads the team with 44 assists. Nick Jenson has grabbed a team-best 113 rebounds and Colton Moon leads the squad with 36 steals. Casey Evans has posted 11 blocked shots to lead all Griffins.
 
Looking Back: Westminster fell to 1-2 on the season in league play with a 73-64 loss at No. 9 Montana Western last Saturday. The Griffins shot just 33.3 percent from the floor while allowing Montana Western to shoot 52.4 percent. Casey Evans led the team with 14 points with William Walker adding 12 off the bench.
 
Home Dominance: Westminster has been tough to beat in the Behnken Field House since it opened in 2006. While the Griffins have always been good at home, going 169-34 (.833) since the program was reinstated in 1999, they have compiled a 104-19 (.846) mark in their current home. The Griffins are 5-4 in the Behnken Field House this season.
 
Bombs Away: The Griffins have been taking advantage of the 3-point line this season, ranking 19th in the NAIA by making 8.12 triples per game. They shoot 37.1 percent from beyond the arc to rank 25th in the nation. The team scores 31.6 percent of their total points from deep while making at least seven treys in a game 12 times. Pryor leads the team by making 2.75 threes per game – 18th in the nation – and he is 37th nationally by shooting 42.3 percent from three.
 
Inside the Metrics: Westminster is averaging 77.25 points per game on the season and they are scoring 104.7 points per 100 possessions on the year. The team is currently averaging nearly 74 possessions per game. On the defensive end, the Griffins are allowing the opposition to score 98.4 points per 100 possessions. Casey Evans leads the team with a .651 true shooting percentage and Nick Jenson grabs 25.2 percent of available defensive rebounds while on the floor.
 
Performance from Pryor: Jordan Pryor was named preseason all-conference after being selected as the Frontier Sixth-Man of the Year last season. Pryor is currently scoring a team-best 13.06 points per game and making 2.75 threes per outing to rank second in the Frontier Conference. He has scored in double figures 10 times on the year and had a career-high 27 points with six threes against Concordia-Alberta on Dec. 19.
 
Spark off the Bench: Kenny Woodard has given the team a scoring spark off the bench this season. He is currently second on the team in scoring at 12.19 points per night and he is averaging 12.38 points per game since he started coming off the bench. Woodard has scored in double figures 11 times on the year and he also leads the team with 44 assists. He shoots 89 percent at the foul line to rank fourth in the NAIA.
 
Balance from Bair: Quincy Bair has been the most all-around player for the Griffins this season and he currently scores 11.88 points per game. The junior is shooting 47.1 percent from the field and he has scored in double figures 11 times. He has 15 threes and shoots 45.5 percent from beyond the arc while also grabbing 3.0 rebounds per contest. Bair has added 32 assists, 18 steals and six block shots to his stat line.
 
Crashing Jenson: Nick Jenson is averaging 8.38 points per game this season and he leads all Griffins with 113 rebounds. His 7.06 rebounds per game is fourth in the Frontier Conference and he is 46th in the nation by pulling 4.94 defensive boards per game. Jenson is shooting 56.1 percent from the floor on the year and has recorded two double-doubles. He ranks 10th in school history with 107 offensive rebounds and is currently 12th all-time with 298 total rebounds.
 
Shoot the Moon: Colton Moon plays his senior season among the top 10 in school history in six statistical categories. He currently sits fifth in school history in made threes (133) and attempted threes (342). Moon ranks sixth all-time with 212 assists and his 143 career steals rank fourth in school history. This season, Moon is 14th in the country with 36 steals and 12th by averaging 2.25 steals per game. He is on pace to become the school's all-time steals leader before the end of the regular season.
 
Eyes on Evans: Casey Evans has transitioned into the starting lineup this season and is currently averaging 11.88 points per game. The sophomore shoots 54.2 percent from the field and he has made 10 threes while shooting 43.5 percent from deep. He has scored in double figures 10 times while grabbing 4.4 rebounds per night. Evans leads the team with 11 blocked shots and he has 25 assists and 21 steals. He scored a career-high 20 points with seven rebounds against Rocky Mountain on Jan. 10.
