SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Westminster men's soccer team couldn't complete the season sweep of The Master's (Calif.) as they dropped a 3-0 decision to the Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at Reese Field.
Westminster had beaten The Master's (1-4) earlier this season at Dumke Field, but they couldn't get any of their nine shots on Saturday past Kyle Cunningham. The host Mustangs opened the scoring in the 23rd minute on a strike from Humphrey Mahowa.
The Mustangs added a second goal in the 44th minute when Joey Mikulas finished a free kick from 25 yards away. The final goal came in the 59th minute on a penalty kick from Brett Croft.
The Griffins (5-2-1) had a chance to get one back in the 71st minute, but
Manuel Duenas had his penalty kick turned away by Cunningham.
Westminster will close out this road trip on Sunday when they visit Soka (Calif.) for a match at 2 p.m. MT is Aliso Viejo, Calif.
