SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team won its second straight home match with a 3-0 sweep of Montana State-Northern in Frontier Conference action in the Behnken Field House on Thursday night.
Westminster (8-9, 2-2 Frontier) put together one of their top offensive nights of the season in the 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 victory.
The Griffins finished match with 51 kills, falling one short of the school record for a three-set match. They hit .312 on the night which is their second-highest performance of the season. Westminster also did a nice job on the defensive end by holding MSU-Northern (4-14, 0-5) to just .117 hitting with only 28 kills.
Jessica Chellsen led three Griffins in double figures with 13 kills and she hit .320 in the match. After posting seven kills through the first two sets, Chellsen helped the Griffins close out the match with six kills in a third set that saw her hit .625.
Alexis Aalona added 11 kills and .310 hitting to go with 12 digs for her fifth double-double of the year.
Desiree Wickwar added 10 kills and .600 hitting while also recoding three blocks.
Taylor Gustafson ran the offense and finished with 41 assists.
Alyse Horton led the team with 15 digs and
Megan Gallegos added 10.
Dayna Jensen led the Sky Lights with 10 kills with Jessica Wilcox recording eight kills and hitting .615.
Westminster closes out a three-match home stand on Saturday when they welcome Great Falls (Mont.) to the Behnken Field House for a 2 p.m. MT match.
