BILLINGS, Mont. – The Westminster women's volleyball team came up empty in its attempt to upset No. 1 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Thursday night at the Fortin Center in the Frontier Conference opener for each team.

Westminster (6-8, 0-1 Frontier) never got on track offensively in the 25-12, 25-12, 25-19 loss. The Griffins hit just .048 in the match with 25 kills. The visitors best hitting set came in the second when they managed .060 hitting with 10 kills.

Rocky Mountain (12-2, 1-0) continued its recent hot streak by racking up 45 kills and finishing the match by hitting .298. The top-ranked team in the nation held the Griffins in check by recording 12 blocks and getting 69 digs.

Alyse Horton led the Griffins with eight kills in the match while hitting .222. Jessica Chellsen added seven kills with Alexis Aalona getting four kills and 14 digs. Megan Gallegos had a team-high 15 digs and Jaden Green had two service aces.

Rocky's Yang Yang, the NAIA National Player of the Week, led all players with 16 kills and she finished the match hitting .484 with only one hitting error and seven blocks. BrieAnna Geck had nine kills and Ahlea Billis added wight kills and 15 digs.

Westminster will play the final of their season-opening 15-straight road games on Saturday when they travel to Helena, Mont. for a 7 p.m. MT match at Carroll (Mont.).
