SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's soccer team continued its early season dominance with a 3-0 win over College of Idaho on Sunday afternoon at Dumke Field. At 5-0-1 this season, Westminster is off to its best start since going 6-0-1 to open the 1993 campaign.
It was another ball possession afternoon for the Griffins and they finished the afternoon with a 16-3 edge in shot attempts. They opened the scoring in the 24th-minte when
Connor Thompson collected a rebound from a shot by
Andrew Clayton and fired it into the goal for his first goal of the season.
Thompson and Clayton would team-up again in the 66th-minute as Clayton played a through ball to a streaking Thompson. After taking a couple of dribbles, Thompson slid a shot past the College of Idaho (2-1) keeper and in for this second goal of the game.
Westminster added a third goal in the 86th-minute when a cross from
Jared DeHart deflected off a Yotes defender and into their net for the own goal.

Logan Butzier earned his third win and second shutout of the season with two saves.
